Client Overview

Toggl landing page

Toggl is a globally recognized productivity suite, best known for its effortless time tracking. With a massive Domain Rating of 84, Toggl is already a giant. However, giants face a specific problem: “Typecasting.”

Toggl is often seen as the go-to tool for freelancers and small teams. To continue scaling revenue, they needed to aggressively capture the Enterprise Market. The goal was to prove to search engines (and CTOs) that Toggl isn’t just a timer, it is robust “Enterprise Time Tracking Software” capable of managing thousands of employees. Ranking for these B2B terms requires a very different link profile than ranking for “free time tracker.”

Goals

The campaign was structured as a “Link-based” enterprise pivot. The focus was not on vanity traffic numbers, but on Equity Re-Distribution, moving power from the homepage to specific B2B solution pages.

Primary goals included:

  • Win the Enterprise SERPs: Secure links specifically for the /track/enterprise/ and /track/employee-time-tracking/ pages to compete with heavier corporate tools.

  • Massive Authority Expansion: Increase the Referring Domain count by thousands to create an unassailable defensive moat against competitors.

  • Contextual B2B Relevance: Move beyond “productivity blogs” and get placed in serious HR, PR, and Cloud Infrastructure publications.

Strategy

LinkPanda executed a “Corporate Workflow” Strategy. We placed Toggl in articles discussing management, operations, and scale, rather than just “productivity tips.”

Key Strategic Components:

  1. The Enterprise Deep-Link We bypassed the homepage to funnel equity directly to the high-ticket pages.

    • Enterprise Validation: We secured a placement on WeTest (QA/Dev infrastructure) pointing to /track/enterprise/ with the anchor “enterprise time tracking tool.” This is a perfect match of high-tech context and commercial intent.

    • Employee Management: A link from Vizologi (Business Strategy) linked “enterprise time tracking software” to the Employee Tracking page, signaling that Toggl is a strategic management tool.

  2. HR & Operations Integration We integrated Toggl into the “Employee Lifecycle” conversation.

    • Onboarding Context: We placed a link on Peoplespheres (HR platform) inside an “Employee Onboarding Checklist,” connecting Toggl’s automated tracker to essential HR processes.

    • Call Center Ops: A link from CloudTalk (Call Center Software) positioned Toggl as a critical app for monitoring support agents, using the specific anchor “time tracking app for employees.”

  3. PR & Management Authority

    • Professional Use Cases: A placement on AgilityPR framed Toggl as a tool for “busy PR pros,” validating its use in high-pressure agency environments.

Results

When you are at DR 84, stability and strategic expansion are the wins. This campaign successfully broadened Toggl’s authority base while reinforcing its new enterprise identity.

  • Massive Scale in Referring Domains: We grew the referring domain count by 11.04%, adding 2,314 new domains (20,964 → 23,278). Adding over 2,000 domains at this scale is a massive engineering feat that insulates the brand from algorithmic volatility.

  • Targeted B2B Equity: Unlike organic links which often just go to the homepage, our built links sent explicit “Enterprise” and “Employee” signals to the pages that drive high-contract value.

  • DR 84 Stability: Maintaining elite authority (DR 84) requires constant fuel. This campaign ensured Toggl held its ground at the top of the food chain.

  • Traffic Note: While overall organic traffic saw a dip (-12.61%), this is common during platform pivots or seasonal shifts. The key win here is the structural growth of the link profile, which provides the necessary “horsepower” for the Enterprise pages to rank and capture higher LTV (Lifetime Value) customers in the long run.

Conclusion

Toggl’s case study demonstrates that for market leaders, link building is about positioning. We didn’t just build links to Toggl; we built links to “Toggl for Enterprise.”

By strategically placing the brand in HR, Cloud, and Strategy conversations, LinkPanda helped shift the narrative from “freelancer tool” to “corporate infrastructure.”

Summary

You can’t rank for Enterprise keywords with Freelancer links. We helped Toggl acquire the “Corporate Credibility” they needed in the eyes of Google.

  • Key Lesson: To move upmarket, you must change your link neighborhood. Target HR and Ops publications to win B2B trust.

  • Impact: 2,300+ new referring domains and direct support for Enterprise product lines.
