Audit Every Link That Points Away From Your Page

Outbound links shape how search engines understand your content and how visitors move around the web. The LinkPanda External Link Checker scans any page, isolates every link that points to another domain, and turns the result into clear KPI stats, dofollow ratios, and a breakdown of the sites you link out to.

What Is the External Link Checker?

It is a free tool that analyses the outbound links on a single web page. You enter a URL, the tool fetches that page, reads every link, and separates the external links from the internal ones. An external link is any link that points to a domain other than the one the page sits on.

For each external link you get the anchor text, the destination URL, the domain, and whether the link is dofollow or nofollow. Above the list you get a dashboard: total external and internal links, the external share, the number of unique domains, the dofollow to nofollow split, and the domains you link to most. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Why Outbound Links Matter for SEO

Linking out to relevant, trustworthy sources helps search engines place your content in context and signals that your page is well researched. The opposite is also true: a page stuffed with outbound links, links to low-quality domains, or paid links that are not marked nofollow or sponsored can weaken trust and, in some cases, invite a penalty.

Knowing your dofollow to nofollow ratio and seeing exactly which domains a page links to lets you keep outbound linking deliberate. It also makes competitor pages easy to study, since their outbound profile shows who they cite and partner with.

What the Checker Measures

External and internal counts

The total number of links on the page, split into outbound links and links that stay on your own domain.

External share

The percentage of all links on the page that point off your domain, a quick read on how outward-facing the page is.

Dofollow ratio

How many outbound links pass authority versus how many carry a nofollow, sponsored, or ugc value.

Domain breakdown

The unique domains the page links to and which ones receive the most links, ranked in a clear chart.

Why Use Our External Link Checker

KPI dashboard

Six headline stats and three charts turn a raw link list into an outbound profile you can read at a glance.

Dofollow and nofollow

Every outbound link is checked for a nofollow, sponsored, or ugc rel value, so paid or untrusted links are easy to spot.

Domain ranking

The top linked domains chart shows where your link equity is going and flags any domain you lean on too heavily.

Filter and export

Filter by anchor, URL or domain, switch between dofollow and nofollow views, and export the full list to CSV.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an external link?+
An external link is any link on the page that points to a different domain than the page itself. Links to other pages on the same domain are counted as internal and are not listed in the table, though they are included in the totals and the external share figure.
What does the external share percentage mean?+
It is the share of all links on the page that point off your domain. A page with mostly internal links has a low external share, while a resource page or roundup that cites many sources will have a higher one. There is no single correct number, it simply describes how outward-facing the page is.
Why does the dofollow to nofollow ratio matter?+
Dofollow links pass authority to their destination, while nofollow, sponsored, and ugc links do not. Paid or affiliate links should carry one of those values. Checking the ratio helps you confirm that commercial links are marked correctly and that you are not passing authority where you did not intend to.
Does it check the whole website?+
No. This tool analyses one page at a time, which is ideal for auditing a specific article or landing page. To crawl a whole site for dead links, use the LinkPanda Broken Link Checker instead.
The page would not load. What can I do?+
Some sites block automated requests. If a fetch fails, use the "Paste the page HTML instead" option: open the page in your browser, view the page source, and paste it into the box. The tool will analyse the pasted HTML the same way.
Is the tool free?+
Yes. The External Link Checker is completely free, with no sign-up and no software to install. You can check as many pages as you like.
